Orthopaedic Techniques
The main focus of orthopeadic techniques is to re-establish joint range of movement, muscle length and muscle strength to achieve better function and alignment for the child.
I use a wide range of therapeutic intervention strategies from the orthopaedic and musculoskeletal field to complement my mainly neurologically based treatment approach. Aiming to make these exercises playful and fun for your child I often use a ball or toy as encouragement to achieve the relevant repetitions.
Examples of techniques I use:
- Active and passive stretching
- Joint mobilisation
- Muscle-strengthening programs for core and limbs
- Coordination training
- Strapping and taping techniques
